The Far Cry TV series adds Brendan Gleeson, Alan Ritchson is circling the Helldivers movie

You may have forgotten that FX are making a television series based on Ubisoft’s Far Cry series which was announced in November 2025. The show will be streaming on Hulu in the United States, and Disney+ elsewhere in the world.

Variety is now reporting that series progressing with some big names joining the cast.  Brendan Gleeson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Hamish Linklater and Sam Spruell are now onboard along with the previously announced Lizzy Caplan and Steve Buscemi.

Rob Mac (formerly McElhenney) will be starring and writing the show along with Noah Hawley. Also added to the cast is Jamie Demetriou who you may know from Channel 4’s Stath Lets Flats.

The show will be an anthology and – assuming it gets a second series – there will be a different cast, plot and setting.

“Getting to work alongside Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” said Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, entrusting us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX family continues to lift me up with their constant belief and support.”

Meanwhile, man mountain Alan Ritchson, aka Jack Reacher, is in talks to star in the Helldivers movie. He follows Jason Mamoa who dropped out of the project in June this year with the usual ‘creative differences’ explanation.

Justin Lin is directing the Helldivers movie with a release date pencilled in for Nov. 10, 2027. That seems ambitious, given that it hasn’t started filming and will require a huge amount of visual effects.
