Last week, we saw the release of Ace Combat 8 which has been really anticipated by a huge group of fans with one of the draws being the online multiplayer. However, since launch Ace Combat 8’s multiplayer modes, particularly on PC, have been subject to issues. Bandai Namco is aware of the issue, amongst others, and has now released a statement of advice for PC players, which basically states that players need to be playing using the official system requirements.

In the statement Bandai Namco wrote, “We have confirmed that, in certain environments, mission matchmaking may be more difficult to establish than intended. We sincerely apologize to all players who have been looking forward to the online experience. As a result of our ongoing investigation, we have identified that one of the factors contributing to this issue may occur when connections are made from environments that do not meet the game’s system requirements, which can affect overall matchmaking stability. ACE COMBAT ONLINE has been developed and tested based on the environments listed in the official system requirements.Connecting to Online Mode from an unsupported environment may not only affect the experience of the player using that environment, but may also impact the experience of other players participating in the same matchmaking session.
To help ensure a more stable online experience for everyone, we kindly ask players to review the following points:

1. Play on Windows 11 ACE COMBAT 8 is officially supported on Windows 11. Players using other operating systems may experience behavior that differs from our testing environment. For the most consistent gameplay experience, we recommend playing on a Windows 11 system.

2. Install the Game on an SSD. We have confirmed cases where the game is being played after installation on an HDD. Using an HDD may affect loading times and overall system stability, which can also impact matchmaking quality. As stated in the system requirements, we recommend installing the game on an SSD to ensure the best possible experience.”

The statement goes on to say that Bandai Namco will be working on further improvements to provide a more stable experience in the multiplayer modes. The studio is also analysing player feedback about other issues in Ace Combat 8, and will be releasing an updates to fix issues as soon as they are ready.
