Bandai Namco has released a new video to go into some detail about the online multiplayer offerings that will be available in Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve. It details the new hub that players will engage in and the two modes that will be available which are Co-Op Assault and Co-Op Warfare, which are shown in the video.
Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve’s online mode is completely separate from the campaign mode, with players creating their own mercenary pilot. Players will be able to customise pilots and unlock different items by completing missions. An air base acts as a hub where up to 100 players can interact with each other as well as launch into missions. The base includes a training mode where four players can train together, a virtual arcade filled with some Bandai Namco games, a virtual jukebox that contains tracks from across the Ace Combat series, and a supply store to buy items using in game currency.
Co-op Assault is a PvE mode where two teams of four compete against each other to get a higher score by taking out enemy NPCs and completing objectives. Co-op Warfare puts two teams of four head to head with NPC fighters also thrown into the mix. As progression is made online emergency missions will become available, split between Scramble and Sortie missions. Scramble missions sees a team of four face off against an NPC squad, while Sortie sees eight pilots work together to take out bosses from Ace Combat. Limited time PvP events will pop up with 4v4 team deathmatch, and eight player deathmatch.
Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve will be launching on October 2nd for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
