Other Ocean Interactive (Dark Void Zero) is currently working on a video game based on H.G. Wells sci-fi classic, The War of the Worlds. An official website for the game has recently gone live, screening an initial developer diary chock full of details. If you haven’t got time to give it a watch here is a quick breakdown:
- Draws inspiration from both film adaptations, though remains a standalone story in The War of the Worlds universe.
- The game’s story will be penned by British writer, Chris Fowler, with Patrick Stewart lending his voice as the narrator.
- A 2D side-scroller which is centred around retro gaming. One shot from the martians and you’re as good as dead.
- Set in London and sports a murky art style somewhat akin to Limbo.
Published by Paramount Digitial Entertainment, the game is due to launched this October for Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network.

i was kinda hoping this would retain the original victorian london setting, but even with a more modern setting it still looks bloody good.
watching the video is giving me real flashback, uh, flashbacks, pardon the pun.
it really does remind me of flashback in all seriousness though.
and i loved that game.

Was listening to the marvellous album last week. That Thunderchild bit gives me goosebumps but I was always a sucker for the old “sacrifice oneself to save people” routine.
