There’s A Storm Of Swords In Debut Game Of Throne: Seven Kingdoms Trailer

It’s been just over a year since the launch of HBO’s stunning television series, Game of Thrones. However, in that short time, the license has already been doing the rounds in the video game world, giving rise to a troubled PC strategy title, and an even more woeful western RPG.

If you’re looking to satiate your hunger for a decent gaming experience based on George R.R. Martin’s fantasy classic then mods seem to be the way to go. Mount & Blade and Crusader Kings are two of the most notable subjects to go under the knife in the name of fan service.

This isn’t to say there is no hope for a studio-developed game based on the license. If there is one genre that could efficiently house the girth and intricacies of the core fiction, it’s an MMO. However, developer Bigpoint Games seem to be taking a different approach, a connotation made from its first in-game trailer.

From what we’ve seem, Seven Kingdoms is fairly combat-heavy, borrowing more from the TV series than its own originality. That may not be the case, but considering the studio’s track record and the fact that Seven Kingdoms is browser-based, we won’t hold our breath for a highly political massively multiplayer clash of wits.

  1. Love the TV series, love the books even more. But that looks woeful.
