The trailer for Sony’s new IP, Tearaway, features a rather camp Elk who has lost his skin. ‘Oooh, lovely’ he says when the player takes a picture to create a new covering.
I think you will agree that the world would be a much better place if everyone had their own camp Elk perched on their desk and the Media Molecule chaps have helpfully provided a pattern for you to print.
A few snips and folds and a spotty paper Elk is yours forever. I’m calling mine Derek.
This is the first of many papercraft designs, as you play through the game you will be rewarded with templates of the characters you meet.
Technical Director Alex Evans said,
As you go through — if you want to, and not everyone will do it — but if you want to you can print this stuff out and fold it. I love the idea that someone goes to your desk and is like ‘where did you get the squirrel with the lance?’ and you say that it’s in a really hard part of the game.

I’m doing this, someone start a forum thread where we can post pictures of our finished elks.

I think if you tweet Media Molecule with pictures, they’re putting them all up on a big wall!

that’s cool.
i expected they might provide a printable version of the elk after seeing it printed in the video, but that’s a great idea letting you get printouts for other characters as well.
i always wished the lego games did something similar with those mini models you build by collecting those cannisters in the levels.
giving you the instructions to build them. ^_^

I demand a picture of Derek.

Stunning incentive for children to enjoy the game too – very arts & craft.
Media Molecule, you are gods amongst the creative world.
