Quantic Dream Boss Confirms PS4 Title In Development

That Quantic Dream (Heavy Rain, Beyond) are working on a PS4 title should surprise nobody – URLs have already been found and David Cage is happy to talk next projects, but today the studio’s Guillaume de Fondaumière has confirmed officially that they’re working on a next-generation game.

The PS4 game will be very much in the Quantic Dream style, apparently, offering up a “story- and character-driven game” but with the caveat that innovation is key. “We’ve never duplicated ourselves,” said Fondaumière. “We never clone ourselves or other people’s projects; we always try to create unique experiences.”

“Whatever we’re working on on PS4 is not going to resemble what we’re doing on PS3.”

Footage of Beyond, due out in October, is above. It’s likely that Beyond itself is a cross-generation game, with the release on both PS3 and PS4, although nobody is confirming that at this stage. “So far, yes,” replied Fondaumière when asked if the game was still exclusive to PS3.

  1. I think I’d buy Beyond on PS3 even if it is cross-gen, but then when / if I feel like a second playthrough I’ll buy the PS4 version.

  2. Promising news, another reason for me to get a PS4 when it’s out

    • Liking the footage too, supernatural thriller mixed with a bit of puzzles :)

    • hardly surprising you’re a fan. ^_^

  3. will it be that Singularity thing?

that one sounds really interesting to me, Ssingulairty in sci fi can mean the creation of a super advanced AI, which could have a connection to that Kara video from a while back.
i’d love to see what happens next for Kara.

  4. TSA Staff apparently didn’t read EG’s interview thoroughly.

Fondaumière NEVER said it will be a cross-generation game. He actually confirmed the contrary. “On the question of whether Beyond will be a cross-platform title, Fondaumière said: It’s for PlayStation 3.” You can’t be more straightforward than that.

This obsession of journos to read between the lines when there’s nothing else to read is very much tiring.

  5. Great to see some new gameplay and it looks stunning. Can’t wait.
