Latest Killzone Mercenary Trailer Features Inventive Groin Attack

Killzone: Mercenary is the PlayStation Vita’s latest attempt at housing a decent first person shooter, and hopes are high that Sony’s first party studios can emulate the success of the PS3 versions when it releases later this year.

This trailer, unearthed today, shows off some of the combat in the game (along with a rather inventive use of a knife) and some of the to and fro dialog that makes up the bounty hunting aspect. It’s looking pretty good, if not a tiny bit clunky.

  1. Oh, I was hoping for something more like in KZ1 when Rico would use his huge gun to lift people up by their crotch… that was always funny :)

  2. Looks almost exactly like the PS3 games, a huge accomplishment for a handheld system. Hoping it does well as they’ve certainly put in the effort, but coming out on the same day at GTA5 will be damaging to the sales sadly.

  3. Nice to see a few more wide open settings in the first 15 seconds or so, not just enclosed maps and small areas. Looks set up to be quite the game, and I dare say bundles and Christmas offers, along with PS4 might help to boost sales Sony’s way. Funny that this should look outdated (but still excellent standalone) next to Killzone Shadow Fall. That’s what gets me about next gen, there’s always a bigger fish in 6-7 years to make you say ‘wow’.

  5. Damn it! I was really hoping for an FPS on the Vita I could get behind, this looks very little like the PS3 versions IMO and yes quite clunky.
