When Nintendo released the Wii U last year, you had a choice of colours (black or white) but you had to go for a basic version if you wanted white, and a premium version (larger internal storage, a few other extras) if you wanted black.
The black version actually looks a little cheap – at least the controller does – so it’s good news to hear that Nintendo will be offering the white version in the premium guise.
Nintendo have also announced a better, higher capacity battery for the GamePad. It’s 2550mAh rather than 1500mAh and should last between 5 and 8 hours, twice as long as the current version. The company also announced a couple of NintendoLand (above) bundles.
The white Wii U premium will release mid July, the battery on the 25th.

Why don’t they spend a little less time fannying around with the colour of the thing and put some of the millions they made from the Wii into creating some genuinely interesting new games to sell the console a little more? I guess they could just keep making Mario games until the end of time, because that doesn’t get boring at all. /s

Maybe the surveys and polls have shown the aesthetics of a console to be more important than what it actually does. Sad times, but with some gamers tending to be so fickle these days, wouldn’t surprise me!
Good news with the upgraded battery though, should have enough power to finish Mario in a single sesh :P

I don’t want to agree, and I’m hoping I’m wrong, but I read about people not using certain guns – certain wonderful guns – in Payday: The Heist because they don’t like how they look.
It’s not the biggest selection (which is no bad thing) but seriously…. How fickle!
There’s 1st World Problems then there’s 1st World Problems in a digital world. We’ve hit a new low.

Oh dear, grim times. Still, anyone will soon be able to play Mario on their pink handheld controllers and then use the same battery in their pink love toy for the full fashion fix experience {;-‘o……..expression of bliss :P

Nintendo just need to push out some of their huge franchises ASAP, as well as get some NEW IP’s under their belt. The huge franchises will garner some of the sales they so desperately need, whilst some new IP’s would mean they aren’t solely relying on this old formula.

I hope that with the new battery and package comes consoles that actually hold a firmware version that is actually current and online enabled, rather than the 6GB download that comes with other consoles. That, and the fact games via remote play are not compulsory is what lead me to say no to Wii U when it was on offer a few weeks back (because of Internet restraints).

2550 mAh? Pfft, my phone has way more than that at 3800 mAh. Try again Nintendo, that battery life is still crap. It’s about the same as a 3DS XL, and that has to do rendering as well.

nintendo need to bring an achievement system to the wii u, im no achievement or trophy whore really but its nice to have some type of reward for completing certain objectives achievements etc, i think the sales would increase.

I like the battery upgrade. Hopefully this makes its way to Europe because I will get a Wii U sooner or later (definitely later).
