The run up to the PS4’s release has really been something special; Sony have managed to save a big announcement for each of the three conferences – the initial reveal at the PlayStation Meeting, the box itself at E3 and now the release date of the system next week.
This comes from their official Gamescom website, which says that their media briefing will include their “release plans for PlayStation 4, as well as updates on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.”
It’s at 6pm UK time next Tuesday, so stay tuned and we’ll let you know at the start of next week what to expect and how to watch the show. We’ll also be covering all the news as it happens so you don’t miss anything.
Let’s just hope they don’t delay it to 2014 over Europe.
Stefan will be out at Gamescom to bring us all the news and opinion he can from the show floor. If there’s anything you’d like to see in particular, let us know in the comments section below!
Thanks, STN

With GTA5, GTA Online then GT6 and (hopefully) the PS4 all between now and Christmas. I’m gonna just dump the girlfriend next month as I will not have any more time for her.

Haha.

I’m with you on that one, I can’t see any other viable option unless you drug her and keep her in the bedroom.
bunimomike
Drug her, you say.
Interesting.

Yep. It’s too hot for a balaclava in the summer and my rope tying knot skills are atrocious. Plus my mum stopped letting me play with knives about 30 years ago.
Bilbo_bobbins
not long now people. I’m excited myself.

Looking forward to it!

This feels a little like the third leg of the relay.
Sony started strong and passed the batton from runner to runner maintaining their incredible pace. Microsoft stumbled out of the blocks and dropped the batton completely on their first change – now they’ve found their stride (possibly to performance enhancing drugs), and aren’t too far behind Sony, although starting to look out of breath.
It’s all to play for coming into the final leg, Sony could make the perfect switch and sprint towards the finishing line, but they could have a late stumble and require a photo finish, possibly even collapsing on the track.
I think I’ve run too far with this analogy.

Or didn’t run far enough

C’mon Sony, October launch please!
kangoo
I would really love an October release but if it is November, an extra month development could really help some of the launch stuff like Drive Club.
Can’t wait either way.

Finding it a bit odd both companies are keeping their release dates so close to their chests for so long. I’ve pre ordered one, along with millions of other people and it’d be nice to know when I need to have the cash available!
After 25th November would suit me nicely. Don’t want an October release, too soon.

As much as I’m looking forward to Sony’s conference, it’s Ubisoft’s that I’m really excited for. Can’t wait to see what their new IP is.
