PS4 Lounge Will Have Consoles Available On Launch Night

The chance to order a PS4 for the launch this Friday is completely gone, with pre-orders now promising deliveries for around Christmas instead. However, if you really want a PS4 for this Friday and are in London, or can get there then you still have a chance.

The PS4 Lounge in Covent Garden has posted a message on its Facebook page informing people that on on launch there will be “hundreds of PlayStation 4 consoles and a selection of games available to purchase on the night.”

There’s no need to pre-order but you are advised to get to the PS4 Lounge on the morning of the 28th, as consoles will be doled out on a first come first serve basis. When you arrive you will be given a wristband that guarantees you a chance to purchase a PS4. The address is 17 Bedford Street, Covent Garden, London.

However if you’re not in or near London the page does mention other stores around the country will be holding similar events, though where those locations are haven’t yet been listed.

  1. Cool, last chance for a lucky few. Mine is all paid for, just have to decide now whether to brave the cold for the midnight launch or wait until the morning… ah who am i kidding .. better get the gloves and scarf ready! :)

  2. Was late to the pre order party and i live in the north east so its a no go for me. I have pre ordered and paid with shopto but atleast I’m gonna get a console before christmas

    • Good luck to all trying to get a console on launch night/morning. Glad I pre-ordered back in February, received DPD tracking number yesterday but no delivery info so far.

      • That’s strange, was typing in box at bottom of page and it’s posted here.

      • You have a DPD tracking number.. Should I be concerned as I’ve only received a receipt so far? (Ordered in June)

  3. Had mine on pre-order since April. I just hope the delivery service Zavvi use gets it to me early on release day.

  4. Preordered in June from Amazon, feels like a life time ago!

Anyone who changed their mind on the preorder would have been better still getting it then ebaying it… I couldn’t believe the mark up on some of the xbox ones on there (and they were selling!)

I’ve also got Mario 3d arriving same day, just in case my console has any problems I’ll have that still lol.

    Roll on Friday!!!!

  5. I can smell panic in the air as thousands of people look to get sneaky orders for PS4s over the next few days.

No panic for me though. I work from home and rather smugly ordered mine back in late spring so I’ll be sat working and waiting for the doorbell to ring. Ha ha! Happy days!

  6. I bought mine at Amazon and I am taking the Friday off.

If delivery fails, I will go to town, get a Balaclava from Sport world and lurk around GAME until I get one…

  7. But, obviously, Sony forgot about us Swiss down here in the middle of Europe. The EU blog lists locations throughout the continent, Sweden, Italy, Germany, Poland, etc., but there is no word of Switzerland. Disappointing. But as long as there will be some supply in terms of consoles, they can still make up for this.

    • I wonder if that’s now because Switzerland isn’t part of the Eu, so there were different licensing and import requirements or something.
Wouldn’t surprise me if it was. Still, on the bright side, you’re also not part of the EU

      • Just know that there was a change of how Sony manages the distribution in Switzerland. Now, Sony Germany is responsible for us, which is quite worrying, especially from a Swiss perspective. Some retailers here with a long tradition only got like 6 machines this year and they were extremely pissed, went public, cancelling all their pre-orders. Sony obviously prefers the big chains.
Agreed, not being part of the EU is sometimes also a good thing… ;o)

  8. Covent Garden,
Bloody hell, could they have picked a worse place to travel via the underground?
That elevator and stairs is a bloody nightmare on the best of days.
I pity anyone who has to go there on Friday,I really do :)

    • Actually it’s closer to Leics Square than Covent Garden.

  9. Great, go queue all day, be tortured by Tinie Tempah and kept awake by gallons of Red Bull in the cold, for the pleasure of paying full price for a console.

Though with GAME cancelling my order, I’d probably be there if I didn’t have work.
