New Halo 5 Concept Art Creeps Out Of The Sci-Fi Shadows

Microsoft has been fairly busy recently, reconfirming that Halo 5 is on the way for Xbox One. They announced yesterday that former Halo writer, Joseph Staten, who has most recently been working on Bungie’s upcoming multi-platform shooter Destiny, was returning to the company’s warm embrace as Senior Creative Director at Microsoft Studios. While he’s not working directly with 343i or directly on Halo, he will surely have some input.

Recently, 343i reshuffled some of their team, with Kenneth Scott stepping down from his role as art director so that he could work remotely. He was replaced by Nicolas Bouvier. Fans have been slightly concerned about what those changes (Kiki Wolfkill’s new role is still as-yet unannounced, too) might mean for the beloved series.

So 343i has released a little bit of concept art via their blog on Halo Waypoint and, although they do try to be a little coy about it, this must be for the Halo game coming to Xbox One later this year.

Looks gorgeous, grimy, big and very “Halo” to me. What do you think?

  1. Cor, I can just imagine it now…..in 720p 20fps…….;)

    • Now, now… don’t be negative. It might be quite nice in 720p running at 20fps…

    • or maximum 12 players online …..troll, troll, troll…..
I never do get on with the Halo series, but without fail I know one day I will own an Xbone and will buy this game. The hype always gets me.

    • Whatever the resolution, 343 like Bungie before it made Halo games to run fairly well. Whatever anyone says about the XboX One, Halo has been brilliant to play in the past. The only bad news about any of it is that there is no way I’m buying a Xbox one, so no way I’m playing Halo. Oh well.

    • 60fps and 1080p as its releasing on the xbox one: Source: Facts are king

  2. Totally lost interest in the Halo series a few years ago. It would need a tomb raider style reboot to get my interest again. Though I’m sure it’ll look nice.

    • Ditto – never saw the appeal particularly.

  3. That is a fine picture there, love sci-fi pics what ever its for

  4. Very clever tagline to the article. Made me chuckle.
