Overkill’s The Walking Dead To Take Cues From Payday

It came as a bit of a surprise last year when Overkill confirmed it was working on its own The Walking Dead game. The game itself will focus on a different set of characters from those featured in the TV show, as well as Telltale’s own take on the IP. Now Robert Kirkman, the mind behind The Walking Dead, has spoken more about the new game at an SXSW panel.

“I can say that it will be Payday-esque because Starbreeze and Overkill are currently doing Payday. But I’m told it will be in a bigger world than Payday currently encompasses. They are going to be learning a lot of stuff from Payday that they will be incorporating into The Walking Dead game.”

Robert Kirkman also said he believed that this Walking Dead game will have online multiplayer, possibly cooperative. Of course Overkill is yet to confirm these details themselves, but information on the game is expected to release soon.

  1. I wonder if Robert was being paid to say Payday as many times as possible. 4 mentions in 3 sentences is pretty good going.

  2. Something like Dead Rising 3 in a huge world with the characters from the tv show would be great.

  3. Payday’s missions are individual “sets”, as such. Not sure how this is going to work if it’s a bit like that. :-\
