EA has confirmed that Rory McIlroy is the new face of its golf games, and with Rory McIlroy PGA Tour set to release in June 2015. This ends Tiger Woods’ own run of being the face of sixteen PGA games, from PGA Tour 99 to 2014. It’ll be very impressive if McIlroy gets anywhere near that figure, or if he gets replaced by someone else.
Rory commented on the news by saying:
“This is a great honor, and something I couldn’t even dream of growing up playing the sport. I really hope people enjoy the game and I’m very glad I can be a part of it.”
EA’s next golf game will be using the Frostbite engine, and will be released on PS4 & Xbox One. There doesn’t seem to be a last gen version of the game in the works.

Looking forward to driving some golf balls through destructible terrain then! :)

I nearly caved and bought golf club in the recent sale for my golf fix but I’m really glad I didn’t, I’m going to be all over this!
Also I’m glad there’s no last gen version, that would’ve just held back the ps4 version so I’m hoping for something truly new gen feeling and looking here.

Why can’t they just call it just PGA Tour? The name thing is so cheesy.

He’s the “new face” of Golf I suppose, so they’re attaching his brand to their brand…really cheesy but it is what it is.
