The biggest update to Splatoon has just gone live and there is a wealth of new content for fans to get stuck into the next time they boot up the splatterfest.

There are the usual balancing tweaks to the game but the bulk of the update contains a whole host of new features for fans to get excited about. Here is a summary of what you can expect the next time you get ready to mark your territory:
- More than 40 pieces of new gear
- Two new weapon types, the Slosher and Splatling
- Squad Battles
- Private Battles
- Level Cap Increase
- Ranked Battle Level Increase
- Updates to Urchin Underpass
- New Music
I would imagine fans will be more than happy with the continued commitment from Nintendo for this game, particularly adding the Squad and Private Battle modes which is bound to make or break some friendships. Is all of this content enough to keep you interested in the inkfest? Or is there just not enough variety to keep you wanting to play one more round?

New music is actually what I’m most looking forward to. The soundtrack is so great! I just wish they’d create more music for the lobbies though, as it gets a bit too repetitive.
I can’t help but wonder how long Nintendo will support Splatoon with free content. And if there’ll be payed DLC expansions down the line.
