Did you think that 2K and Gearbox were done showing you characters from Battleborn? With the game having gone gold yesterday and having already shown all 25 of the characters from the main game, I certainly did, but it turns out there’s even more on the way. There’s a mixture of free and paid additions to the game on the way.
So there’s five new playable characters coming “sometime after launch” and these are all completely free for all platforms. That will bring the roster up to 30, and Gearbox have shared some concept art for a character called Alani, a part of the Eldrid faction who can control water to deal damage or heal her allies.
There’s also five add-on packs – either £3.99 each or £15.99 as part of a season pass – and each of these will include a new PvE Story Operation alongside some exclusive skins and taunts. Now that Gearbox are finished developing the main game, their focus has turned to coming up with ideas for what these five packs and their missions might include, as they gently note that time was not diverted from the main game’s development in order to create these missions.
Battleborn is out on May 3rd, with a stress testing open beta in the pipeline for the not too distant future. Until then, check out our hands on preview and video from the game’s Incursion multiplayer mode.
