Now this may come as a shock to many of you so I hope you are sitting down and have stiff drink to hand, are you ready? Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End has claimed the top spot during it’s first week of release! I know, right?!?! Who could have predicted that!
Sarcasm aside what we couldn’t have predicted is just how well it has done, smashing first week sales of Uncharted 3 by 66%. If that wasn’t enough to make Sony do a little dance, Ratchet & Clank is still selling very well a month after release and is in fourth position.
Doom has also done very well although it never had a hope in hell’s chance of beating Mr Drake, and Star Wars: Battlefront pops back in to the top ten, because Star Wars.
Update:Â Cripes, just noticed last weeks #1, Battleborn, has plummeted to #12. Not good.

Come to think of it, some of those photos might make for some damn nice A3 size wall posters.. I’d have my work cut out choosing just one though.

I’m still quite astonished that GTA V keeps selling and selling. Uncharted 4, which will hopefully arrive tomorrow for me, may be excellent, but it’ll be out of these charts in a couple of weeks. GTA stays, how is that even possible?
I thought games are a huge market by now, or are most of these sales in absolute numbers still quite low, so that some left-over sales propel a game into the top ten, or what?

Charts are a funny thing – any type of sales charts, video games, music, whatever. the #1 might be selling 1m, but by #5 sales are a few thousand at best, an by #10 a it could be couple of hundred. Most people rush out and buy “The next big thing” on the day of release.
As for GTAV, it – as is R&C, CoD, FIFA and a load of other near the top – are bundled with new PS4s and Xboxes, so that helps them hang about in the charts for ages.
If you were buying in to PS4, and you asked them what games to buy first, GTAV is going to be one of them isnt it? It’s not current owners keeping it in the charts, its the new people coming to the consoles, those who perhaps don’t know much about video games so they go for what they heard of in popular culture – GTA, FIFA, CoD – all brands that have broken out from video games to become part of everyday vocabulary.

Ok, thanks, I didn’t think of the bundles. And of course there’s other games besides GTA V for which the same is true, but these appeal less to me so I probably tend not to see them.

Incredible game. Feels so different in tone to the previous games but I enjoyed every second. For me it’s the best game on current gen hands down. I still cant believe how good it looks.

Clearly a masterpiece of a game but not one I am enjoying sadly. I miss my crazy set pieces and I’m rubbish at stealth games :( I get that Uncharted has “grown up” but I’ve always enjoyed the series for its OTT moments and basic cover shooting. Like TLOU, its just not for me I guess.

Obviously you havent got to Chapter 11. It’s the biggest, most ridiculous, over the top thing to ever been seen in games, and puts many films to shame as well.
