The latest in a proud lineage of invertibrate warfare, Worms WMD is coming out on August 23rd for PS4, XBO, and PC via Steam and GOG. That would be a simple enough announcement, but Team17 are spicing things up with pre-order bonuses that invite all manner of different franchises to join the party.
The game adds some new ideas to the Worms formula, with vehicles, gun emplacements and building interiors appearing for the first time, which you can read about in our preview here, as well as the recently announced crafting system that unlocks many more possible weapons for you to play with.
There’s exclusive weapons, customisation items and even specific missions. Admittedly, Team17 are drawing on their stable of games that they are publishing, with The Escapists, Yooka-Laylee and Classic Worms, but there’s plenty of reach to other publishers and frnachises, including Payday 2, Rocket League, Goat Simulator and Saints Row IV.
Xbox One and Steam buyers will have exclusive content, in the form of a Rare All-Stars pack and Team Fortress 2 masks, respectively. I’m not that fussed, though. I just want to play with the Saints Row Dubstep Gun.
