War For The Planet Of The Apes Is Getting A Console Game

Andy Serkis, the chap behind the CGI version of Caesar in the new “… Of The Apes” movies has revealed that there will be a console game to tie in with the latest film. Serkis’ production company and handling the game, the man himself having worked on numerous games before, most notabley  Enslaved: Odyssey to the West.

“I don’t think it’s ever been done before,” Serkis told Gamespot. “We created it at the Imaginarium, which is my studio. Without giving too much away about it, it’s not like a first-person shooter. It feels like an interactive movie. And that’s all I can say other than that it will be coming out around the same time as the movie.”

“It’s a companion piece, it’s not based on the characters from this movie,” he added.

  1. Shame it isn’t an open world game where you can play as Caesar and attack/capture human settlement camps using stealth or lead an small army of apes for a full on assault.

One side of the map could be like the Redwood forest we saw in the movie and the other side could be the ruined city of San Francisco.

They could even do it so that you play as two characters… a human character and Caesar. And your actions whilst playing either one have consequences for the other.

Although I guess that would make a better Dawn of the Planet of the Apes: The Game than a War for the Planet of the Apes one.

An interactive movie game could work though I suppose…

  2. An interactive movie based upon the movie. Sounds as exciting as watching a movie and pressing X every 10 minutes can get.
