PlayStation fan? Hankering for a Monster Hunter substitute? Koei Tecmo’s Toukiden 2 (our review) is perhaps the closest you’ll get and tomorrow it will be going free-to-play. On May 31st, the publisher will launch Toukiden 2: Free Alliances for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, essentially acting as a trial version for the full game.
Players can take on a selected pool of missions, teaming up with friends who also have Free Alliances downloaded as well as those who own a copy of the game.
Those who decide to upgrade to the full version can do so, importing their save data and carrying on from where they left.
It’s a smart move by Koei Tecmo and one that follows their recent free-to-play efforts with Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires and Dead Or Alive 5.
If multiplayer action RPGs are your thing then Toukiden 2 is definitely worth a try, expanding on the original game with a new open-world focus.

It’s a bit rich calling this F2p, more of a glorified demo, no?
