There’s a beauty in the simplicity of Rocket League which just boils down to football with acrobatic cars. That simple hook managed to garner a lot of attention when it released, becoming very popular in path thanks to being a PS Plus title and from there word spread. Psyonix have seemed to find success on each platform the game releases on, the latest being Switch. That success has helped the studio reach a new milestone with confirmation being made that over 40 million people have played Rocket League.
Rocket League now has 40 MILLION players worldwide! Thank you to our ever-growing community for helping us start the new year with such a fantastic milestone. pic.twitter.com/8UJQLSlECF

It’s great to see the game go from strength to strength, and hopefully we’ll see more content for the game this coming year.

Pretty amazing that Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars turned into this.

I wonder what the breakdown is between paid and free players though.

Proof that, sometimes, the simplest concepts are the best ones. Rocket League continues to be my go-to game when I have 15-30mins to kill and just want to play something fun.
