Persona 3 Reload has made an appearance at Anime Expo 2023 with a new trailer, featuring English voiceover. In the video, ATLUS presents roughly a minute of gameplay footage from the highly anticipated remake, teasing the game’s English voice cast.
Announced last month, Persona 3 Reload will launch on various platforms including PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. This remake will offer a suite of changes to the beloved JRPG including a battle system upgrade, enhanced visuals, and English voiceover – here’s a look at the cast:

Persona 3 Reload is the latest attempt by ATLUS to revisit classic game in its flagship series, bringing them to new audiences. Originally released in 2006 for the PlayStation 2, Persona 3 is arguably one of the most iconic JRPGs of the century.
The game follows the protagonist, a high school student who discovers the ability to summon powerful manifestations of their psyche known as Personas. You hook up with a group of students known as the Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad (SEES) to explore a hidden world called the “Dark Hour” that exists during the time between one day and the next. Together, they must navigate labyrinthine dungeons, known as Tartarus, and battle Shadows, malevolent creatures that prey on the minds of humans.
Much like other games in series, what sets Persona 3 apart from other JRPGs is its unique blend of dungeon crawling and social simulation gameplay. During the day, players manage their protagonist’s school life, building relationships with classmates, and engaging in various activities. These social interactions directly impact the combat abilities and character development in the game’s turn-based battles.
The game tackles deep and mature themes, such as existentialism, mortality, and the importance of forming genuine connections with others. Its narrative explores the characters’ struggles with personal demons, grief, and the acceptance of their own mortality. This introspective approach to storytelling resonated with players and set a new standard for narrative depth in the genre.
Persona 3 also introduced several innovative gameplay mechanics that have become staples of the series since. The concept of “Persona Fusion” allows players to combine multiple Personas to create more powerful allies, while the game’s calendar system adds a sense of urgency and time management, forcing players to make strategic decisions about how to spend their limited time.
Beyond its gameplay and narrative, Persona 3 is important for its impact on the popularity and recognition of the Persona series as a whole. It revitalised interest in the role-playing genre and garnered a dedicated fanbase, leading to the development of multiple sequels and spin-offs.
There’s no launch date for Persona 3 Reload just yet though it is expected to arrive some time in early 2024.
