GoW Trilogy Confusion

Right, do you remember the God Of War Collection which lucky US residents were able to pick up in November last year, yes LAST YEAR! thus having a great warm-up and refresh of the story for the behemoth’s début on the PS3.

Unfortunately no such luxury was afforded to Sony’s UK and EU customers who completely missed out on the fantastic collection in time for the arrival of the third of the series. This disappointment was only very recently somewhat lessened, by the very late news that SCEE would be releasing both the God Of Collection and a God Of War Trilogy on April30th, although even this great news was a bit of a kick in the balls for fans who’d already splashed out on God Of War III making the trilogy purchase an awkward decision.

Well even this very belated launch isn’t going without a hitch, as annoyed PS3 owners are receiving emails that pre-orders are being cancelled by the retailers, with TSA user Apnomis reporting that Zavvi had emailed “We are sorry to advise that your order for God of War: Trilogy is now no longer being released and has been removed by the manufacturer.”

This was followed up with news that ShopTo is no longer taking pre-orders, Asda is saying sold out and Amazon appear to have removed the listing altogether as have GAME.co.uk. It is now being reported by Eurogamer that “retail partners for the three-game bundle are being worked out now. Not all shops will sell the game”

So practically six months after our US cousins were able to get their mitts on the large slice of gaming goodness SCEE is still trying to work out which shops to sell it through, this perhaps explains why some retailers have scrapped pre-orders or even pulled the title altogether. Here’s hoping all the loose ends are tied in time for the April 30th release date because this will have pride of place in my collection.
