Creative Assembly has revealed a new character pack for Total War: Warhammer III, which will have fans of the game and the Grand Cathay faction purring with delight. Enter Bhashiva & Tiger Warriors, who will be doing a biiiiiiig stretch before pouncing on their enemies in battle when the DLC launches on 21st May.

Bhashiva, the White Tiger of Shang-Yang, has been reborn in this age to repel the growing Chaos threat. As a mercenary lord, she will enter into the service of the Iron Dragon, bringing a company of Tiger Warriors to fight alongside her.

The Tiger Warriors are fast, stealthy and great ambush warriors, adding a new facet to the wider Cathay army with specialised units, including Sawai, Clawspeaker, Stalkers, Tiger Warriors with Dual Axes, and Iron Claws.

For the campaign, this DLC adds the Tiger Court, which passes judgment and defines the faction identity according to one of three strategic Pillars. You’ll also need to complete missions for the Iron Dragon in order to unlock more of the Cathay army for your use, also gaining access to insignias that can be applied to and enhance units.

This character pack will arrive on 21st May alongside Patch 8.0, which brings updates to Grand Cathay and a free Legendary Hero Taoyan the Merciless.

It’s wild to think that Total War: Warhammer 3 is already four years old, having launched in 2022, and this fantasy trilogy is 10 years old later this month. That Creative Assembly is continuing to support it with new content is great, though their attention has naturally moved to the future, which will contain Total War: Medieval 3 and Total War: Warhammer 40,000.

Back at its launch, I wrote in our review, “If Total War Warhammer 3 is the beginning of the end for Creative Assembly’s fantasy series, then it’s going out on a high note. The game takes several steps forward in how the campaign works, how it builds toward climactic battles and then how those battles take place, and there’s plenty of quality of life improvements for the Total War series as a whole.”
