One of our most anticipated free-to-play games right now has to be Soulframe, coming from Digital Extremes, the team behind the hugely popular Warframe. With this weekend’s 11th annual TennoCon community event going on right now, the development team behind the upcoming free-to-play fantasy action RPG revealed that players everywhere can gain permanent access to Soulframe Preludes by signing up on the official site by July 12 at 11:59 PM ET/4:59 AM BST. TennoCon attendees and viewers from home should tune into TennoLive on Warframe’s Twitch or YouTube channels at 4:30 PM ET/9:30 PM BST to see the latest gameplay demo for Soulframe.
Additional reveals included a sneak peek at the Warsongs Fable quest featuring Ben Starr (Clair Obscur: Expedition 33) as an antagonist named Tempest Bayor ahead of the full TennoLive presentation, a new fishing mini-game, the Vadagar Pact showcasing a new corrupted progression path, the Mendicant Reinbreaker boss fight, and confirmation that mounts are coming to Soulframe Preludes this year.
“Our approach to storytelling in Soulframe has focused a lot on redemption, with uplifting character arcs built around salvation and not necessarily the destruction of the human body and soul,” said Geoff Crookes, Creative Director for Soulframe. “Life has many paths toward redemption, though, and with the Warsongs Fable we’re attempting to explore a smidge of that contrast to demonstrate the necessary balance and coexistence. Growth does not truly occur without a certain level of despair and fear. These are important storytelling mechanics that are incredibly relatable to the human experience and journey in life. These themes aren’t comfortable to experience, but they’re essential to our existence as temporary inhabitants of Alca. We hope our community, and players discovering Soulframe for the first time today, find a sense of connection with that.”
Soulframe access for all
In celebration of community at TennoCon, Digital Extremes once again invites all players interested in joining its growing community to create an account at Soulframe.com by July 12 at 11:59 p.m. ET to secure access to Soulframe Preludes. Claim an Envoy name and explore the dozens of weapons, Fables, characters, and Pacts Preludes currently has to offer. Players can continue to access Preludes until the game’s wider public launch. Once the open sign-up window has closed, players may still sign up, but will wait for the weekly raffle until additional access is available.
Corrupted player progression path and a new Fable, entitled Warsongs
Channel corruption to carve a new kind of path for redemption with a darker progression path introduced in Soulframe’s latest Fable quest, Warsongs, coming later this Fall. Wield the power of the corrupting Ichor with the new Vadagar Pact to toss exploding boomerangs, call forth ensnaring tendrils, or summon a stampede of corrosive steeds that leave behind murky pools in their wake.
An antagonist, named Tempest Bayor, arrives
Unveil the face of one of Soulframe’s main rivals to the player, Tempest Bayor, brought to life by the performance of Ben Starr. As a rare red-armed Envoy, he aligns himself with the invading Ode forces with the support of his faithful raven companion. His motivations are unknown, but the Empress of Eldveil, portrayed by Jennifer English (Clair Obscur: Expedition 33) in her first in-game appearance, seems to know more…
A new boss: Mendicant Reinbreaker
Break a bucking rampage of the Ode forces’ latest boss encounter, the Mendicant Reinbreaker, now available in Soulframe Preludes. Defeat the mounted menace and free his indentured steed for the potential chance to befriend it in the future.
There’s a fishing mini-game!
Recall forgotten childhood pastimes of lakeside fishing with Grandfather Doyen in a new fishing gathering activity woven directly into the game’s narrative while expanding the Alca’s worldbuilding.
And mounts are coming to Soulframe Preludes!
The wait to traverse through Alca with a full-grown wolf companion is nearing its end. Soulframe Preludes players will soon be able to test out the first highly anticipated mount system later this year!
There’s still no sign of an official release date for Soulframe, but with the permanent access you can currently get for Soulfrrame Preludes, there’s never been a better time to get involved, become part of the community, and to help shape the finished game.
