Registration is now open for the first Ratchet & Clank game in five years, and this time it’s on mobile. That said, it looks pretty faithful to the series and seems to capture the spirit of the previous games.

“The iconic characters from the Ratchet & Clank franchise are back in a stunning, fast-paced arena shooter packed with explosive weapons and larger-than-life action!” explains the official website. “Experience the humour, action, and energy of the iconic universe in a bold new real-time multiplayer format. Play as a Legendary Hero from the past, now with unique abilities. Go solo or team up with other Rangers online in thrilling multiplayer games built for every kind of player.”

The game is free to play and no doubt comes with lots of opportunities to spend hard cash on skins and other digital whatsits. The game will launch with twelve ‘heroes’, although some of these are based on the baddies from the series, and six game modes.

“Squad up with friends in fast-paced team PvP battles, take on waves of enemies in PvE, or discover fresh twists to the license, including a battle royale-inspired mode and a football-inspired showdown where every goal comes with a little extra firepower (and yes, it’s football, not soccer!).”

There are plenty of wacky R&C weapons, and the music has been inspired by the earlier games in the series.

Head to www.rangerrumble.com to pre-register now on the App Store and Google Play, available worldwide. As the number of people register it will gradually unlock bonuses for when the game launches.

The game does not have an official release date, but the app store lists it for October 5th, 2026.
