Koei Tecmo and Omega Force have released a demo for Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered ahead of the game’s scheduled release date of October 1st, 2026.
This playable preview is available to download now on all major platforms including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC (Steam). It features the iconic Battle of Hulao Gate which occurs during the early stages of the Three Kingdoms timeline, pitting the Allied Forces against the army of Dong Zhuo. There are six playable characters including Zhao Yun, Guan Yu, Zhenji, Xiahou Dun, Zhou Yu, and Sun Shang Xiang. The demo will give Musou fans a closer look at some of the changes made for Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered which go beyond a basic visual overhaul.
This is the same demo that was recently showed off during this year’s Tokyo Game Show where developers were interviewed about the remaster. According to a Famitsu report, Omega Force has plans for a post-launch update that will add online multiplayer, supplementing the game’s local co-op.
Choosing to remaster an older entry in the series makes sense on one hand given the nostalgia many have for DW3. However, compared to newer Musou games – especially the Dynasty Warriors: Origins reboot – there’s a change the gameplay will feel far more basic and limited, even if it has been slightly reworked for a modern audience.
