Firefly Studios has announced that its long awaited prequel to the original Stronghold, Stronghold 4, will be available in early access from December 7th. Along with the announcement of the release date, Firefly has also released a brand new demo, which is actually dropping in two parts. The first part, available now, is the free build mode. The second part of the demo will be available October 19th and include the Skirmish mode.
Firefly is anticipating a six month early access window for Stronghold 4 before the full 1.0 release lands. This will allow them to gather data and feedback on how the core game is functioning, while also building up to add further modes including economic campaign, cooperative skirmish trail and multiplayer battles. From the start, the early access build will feature a campaign of 22 missions, the skirmish mode, a free build sandbox mode and a scenario-based skirmish trail. The studio will also consider raising the price o Stronghold 4 as more content is added to the game ahead of the full release.
