It has been announced that Gotham City Impostors will be making its way to Xbox LIVE, PSN and PC. The game is an FPS developed by Monolith (of F.E.A.R fame), and although the name Gotham appears in the title, you won’t be playing the role of the caped crusader.
“Gotham City Impostors blows apart expectations for superhero games with an exaggerated take on first person shooters, set in a part of the DC Universe players have never seen before. Monolith is creating a game that turns Gotham City upside down and we think fans are going to have a blast with this creative twist on multiplayer heroism and anti-heroism as they play up the classic rivalry between Batman and The Joker.”
Gotham City Impostors is a multiplayer shooter that gives players the opportunity to customize their own characters, then Pose as either an amateur vigilante or villain and join either team Bats or team Joker. There will be “unprecedented customization options including insane costumes, homebrewed gadgets and a wide range of traditional and imagined weapons.”

as far as i can remember the classic rivalry between batman and the joker has never resembled an fps.
and batman would never allow heroes on his turf with guns.
although his anti gun stance seemed to has lapsed a little in dcu online.
and he did shoot darksied.

I don’t read the comics but i’ll bet there’s some alternative universe thingy they can stretch to make it fit, isn’t that usually the way of the comic world.. ;)

actually, dc have dozens, if not hundreds, of these alternate worlds.
they have their own imprint called elseworlds, some are amazing, like superman: red son.
but yeah, there could be a reality where batman uses a gun.
there was one batman story i read years ago, they got stan lee to do his version of batman’s origin.
in that one bruce didn’t inherit billions, he earned them by, you guessed it, Wrestling.
honestly, that’s how he wrote it.
