Hitman: Absolution Laid Bare, Special Editions Planned

IO’s Nick has been answering questions about upcoming stealth-em-up Hitman: Absolution over on the official forums, and a comprehensive set of questions and answers have been listed here.

There’s some interesting nuggets, especially for the hardcore Hitman fans keen to know what’s happening with this latest version, although there’s also a fair amount of fluffy PR in there too.

The best bits?  Firstly, Nick says that “stealth is still the primary way to play Hitman” meaning that sneaking around hasn’t been overshadowed by running and gunning, something that fans should be thankful for.

There’s a little about the new Instinct power-up, too, where it’s confirmed that Instinct will ‘recharge’ by doing hitman-like things, rather than just shooting bad guys.  This will obviously tie in nicely with the stealth confirmation.

However, if you don’t like Instinct (and we’re told we’ll find out more about this new feature soon) it’s a bit tough.  “No, you will have to rely on the mini map and your own judgement,” says Nick when asked if there’s an alternative. There won’t be a full satellite map at all.

Also out (for the moment at least) is the ability to save anywhere – currently the game has pre-set save points.

The trend for pre-order bundles and special editions continues, too.  ” I’m not aware of what the end products are going to look like but I know that the guys are looking to craft some sweet stuff for the collectors out there,” says Nick.

It’ll be possible to get through the game without killing anyone but your target, though – that sounds about as stealthy as it gets.  Or, at least, that’s the ambition.

Let’s hope we get more information through soon on the actual story and the motives behind the game and its characters, which is surely what’s going to be the key factor in how this whole thing plays out, new features aside.

  5. “There won’t be a full satellite map at all” -No buy for me…

    • How on earth can you base your purchasing decision on that fact? Madness! This game has the capacity to be outstanding, yet you wouldn’t buy it, even with a metascore of 99, because it doesn’t have a satellite map?

    • LOL

  6. My instinct says yes!

  7. Meh, I want a real gun with the special edition.

  8. My only concern is something i read elsewhere, that 47 has the ability to see through walls.
