Some new screens have been released for the upcoming PC RTS, A Game of Thrones – Genesis. Based on the ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ novels, the game will let you “live the origins of the A Song of Ice and Fire saga through more than 1000 years of history. From year -750 to year 299, you will take part in Westeros’ founding events and largest battles, such as Aegon the Conqueror’s invasion of the continent or the War of the Usurper.”
As a fan of the books I am really excited about this one.

Is this based on the TV series aswell? I’ve still got to watch them as i’ve got them all on my planner but haven’t got round to watching any of them. I will keep a look out for this but as i’m not a big fan of RTS games i’ll probably give it a miss but there’s a slim chance i may get it.

It leads up to the series, but there are still some visual influences. The TV show is a masterpiece, I would certainly recommend it.

Cool. I have several people recommend the tv show to me but i don’t want to watch them one by one so i’m waitng for a moment that i can watch a block of episodes over a day or two.

the tv show was ok. It was majorly hyped and I was really looking forward to it. Sean Bean carries the whole thing, say no more on the matter.

The books are superior in every way compared to the series… but isn’t that always the case? Anywho, the TV series is amazing either way. Wonder if this game will continue the trend.

loved the tv, just started reading the books and liking the sound of this however i’d really like to see some sort of RPG in the future

I’ll definitely be giving this a chance. Watched the series on TV and thought it was brilliant. Sort of a link between Spartacus and Lord of the Rings. Very atmosphereic. I’d recommend to anyone who hasn’t seen it already.

Just to chip in on something I’m pretty passionate about – gutted it’s just on PC.
The TV series is some of the best US drama we’ve seen since The Soprano’s and The Wire – HBO getting a great story and telling it well. Great scripts, great casting, highly recommended. In no way does Sean Bean carry the f**ker! He’s a central character in the first series…but hell’s bells Bilbo – hobbit fantasy rivalry or what? – there’s a whole gamut of great characters in this story. Jon Snow carries it, Ayra Stark carries it, Tyrion Lannister carries it.
Oh and yeah the books are even better – book 5 ‘A Dance With Dragons’ has been released today.
The only down side is that here in the UK the vile Mr Murdoch is keeping HBO Game Of Thrones for his own Lannister like ways; ie. only available on Sky Atlantic.
