Gabe Newell. There, that’s the last time we’ll mention him.
Thankfully, there’s more than one decision maker over at Valve, and Doug Lombardi has told CVG that official PS3 support could be on the cards soon. “We’re always evaluating what’s happening in the marketplace and certainly something that’s happening in the last couple of months is that Sony’s managed to sell some boxes,” said Lombardi.
We presume when he says “sell some boxes” he means massively outsell the 360 month on month for the last quarter. “They’re in the race now,” he observed. “So we’ve got to re-evaluate that for what it is.” So will we be getting Left 4 Dead, Doug? “50-50 right now”.
Anyone reading this that hasn’t yet bought The Orange Box will be banned.

lol…to be honest i only played the orange box yesterday!(ps3 wise) oh the irony (i did have it on my pc originally, but my brother completed it and i just couldnt be arsed after seeing loads of key moments when i walked in)
truth be told, i really enjoyed it on the ps3, got me sucked right in, trouble is it was off a mate and he took it back yesterday *bah* even without me playing portal…when i got me some cash, ill defo buy it!
(and what the hell with all the negative reviews around it??? granted the loading screens are a bit crap (they had them on the pc version too) but apart from that and a bit of ‘minor’ slowdown’ it didnt really detract from the experience)
sometimes the internet is a bag of shit…and god knows how many 360/pc guys put off potential ps3 buyers for this great game.

Their attitude to the PS3 makes me think “Who cares? We don’t need you!”. If all they’ve got to offer is updates to Half-life 2 & it’s various spinoffs (admittedly, a very good game), & online multiplayer Resident Evil then they can stick to what they’re doing now.

That’s exactly what I was going to say. I believe what they said was, “There’s no point in porting games onto the PS3″. What idiots. Although, anyone who can openly endorse XBOX is an idiot anyway (No offence to any 360 users btw, as long as you have a PS3 too and prefer it lol).

I bought The Orange Box for PS3 and I don’t see what the big fuss is all about. Like seedaripper said, the slowdowns didn’t make the game awful. I loved The Orange Box so very much. It looked good and the gameplay was good. There were no “slideshow-like” moments like some pre-release review stated. It wasn’t perfect but then again, what is (except for MGS4). I don’t get it. Some people go on and on about how crappy the PS3 port is but it’s far from the truth.

Good news for people who wants to play Valve games on their PS3.
Anyway, I play their games on PC, because I know Valve still need to understand the PS3 technology, so I their upcoming games will be buggy as hell on the PS3 than PC…
Anyway, good they’re going to support PS3..if they do
imo, Valve is too lazy to learn PS3 technology.

@ seedaripper1973: absolutely buy it, I got it for £25 in Tesco (would you believe) a couple of months ago and it was worth every penny just for Portal alone.
@ General: Half Life 2 is great too (not so keen on the “episodes”) and I had absolutely no framerate issues until episode 2 when it juddered a couple of times and then carried on as normal. A small price to pay for playing it on a 42 inch screen instead of my 21 inch PC monitor. Gabe is an arse, he’s allowed an opinion but from a business point of view slagging off a potential platform for making money so openly and publicly is bad practice. Richard Branson never said aviation fuel sucks and he much prefers sweety mice. Tosser.

Thank GOD! Valve develop some superb games and it’ll be great to receive them without EA stepping in and crippling it.

I rented Orange Box for PS3 and after playing Episode 1 (which I also had on PC) it became apparent that load times were simply unacceptable. I then went on Steam and bought the whle thing for PC for much less and it was a whole lot better.
It’s a great game but the PS3 port is nothing short of lazy. Hopefully this news means the next Valve release will be as good as the PC version and released at a similar time.

Who cares? Valve make horrible,over-rated crocks anyway. The orange box is awful.I can’t understand why it got so hyped. As for gabe newell, perhaps he should consider a new career since he makes dreadful games, maybe a ships anchor,a doorstop,or submarine ballast?
