Press releases are a wonderful thing, they give lazy writers an easy ride and importantly allow ample opportunity  for cutting and pasting.

Take-Two Interactive announced yesterday that Rockstar will soon be releasing a huge expansion pack for Midnight Club: Los Angeles, title the ‘South Central Upgrade Map’ and the even better news is that this DLC will be free of charge.

The forthcoming map is approximately a third of the size of the original map, and residents/ visitors of LA will be able to spot  such notable landmarks as “the Exposition Park, the USC campus, Watts Towers, Shrine Auditorium, Crenshaw Plaza, and the L.A. Memorial Coliseum and stretches south to the 105 Freeway”

In addition to the free expansion there is some paid for DLC on the horizon with the ‘South Central Content Pack’ featuring “new character competitions, races, cars and music available in a single complete package. The new vehicles include a variety of cars and a motorcycle.”

There is no news on pricing for the pack or specific dates for either of the DLC packs other than sometime early next year.

The game currently has generally favourable reviews on Metacritic, where you can check out reviews of the game unless some kind sole at Rockstar wants to send me a review copy.
So if you don’t already have it, it may be worth being on your best behaviour until the 25th and hoping the jolly man dressed in red is kind to you.

  1. Terrible game = I don’t care.
    Good post though

    • Get back in to the forums, who let you out?

  4. Allright, L.A. represent, WESTSIDE!!!!!!

  5. One of the few games on the PS3 that works great with my Logitech G25 wheel. Even GRID, as good as it is, doesn’t work as well with the wheel.

  6. yes, i was hoping theyd add south central, the ‘ghetto’ area, midnight club is a brilliant game

  7. What would owners of both games say is better and why?
    Burnout or Midnight Club

I love Burnout so pondering on MC

    • Good question. Anyone?

      • Midnight Club, ALL day long (although i also like burnout) as there are so many lovely little details, the in car view is (MINT) the zooming effects from car to map are (SOUND) and the ‘perks’ such as ’slow down’, and ‘driving on 2 wheels’ are (ACE)
        Highly recommended
        See ;)

      • I would say that the only downside of MC LA vs Burnout it the number of cars. Not enough cars in Midnight Club, but for the rest, it really is a question of taste.

Didn’t played a lot online tough. And Burnout is pretty cool online. Anyone as played MC LA online?

  8. I’ve been thinking of investing in this game a while and with trophies and this free DLC I’m really thinking about it now. But I don’t feel I’m completely done with Burnout yet and seeing as though I’ll be comparing the two in some way it has to be bought sometime soon. Xmas present for myself then :D
