Press releases are a wonderful thing, they give lazy writers an easy ride and importantly allow ample opportunity  for cutting and pasting.

Take-Two Interactive announced yesterday that Rockstar will soon be releasing a huge expansion pack for Midnight Club: Los Angeles, title the ‘South Central Upgrade Map’ and the even better news is that this DLC will be free of charge.

The forthcoming map is approximately a third of the size of the original map, and residents/ visitors of LA will be able to spot  such notable landmarks as “the Exposition Park, the USC campus, Watts Towers, Shrine Auditorium, Crenshaw Plaza, and the L.A. Memorial Coliseum and stretches south to the 105 Freeway”

In addition to the free expansion there is some paid for DLC on the horizon with the ‘South Central Content Pack’ featuring “new character competitions, races, cars and music available in a single complete package. The new vehicles include a variety of cars and a motorcycle.”

There is no news on pricing for the pack or specific dates for either of the DLC packs other than sometime early next year.

The game currently has generally favourable reviews on Metacritic, where you can check out reviews of the game unless some kind sole at Rockstar wants to send me a review copy.
So if you don’t already have it, it may be worth being on your best behaviour until the 25th and hoping the jolly man dressed in red is kind to you.
