Microsoft’s Interactive Entertainment Business’ Vice President of Strategy and Business Development, Shane Kim, has relinquished his role with the platform holder. Citing a desire to spend more time with his friends and family as the reason for his retirement, he will stand down at the end of the year.

Kim has been replaced by Phil Spencer (Former head of MS Game Studios) and Dennis Durkin (Chief Financial Officer for the Interactive Entertainment Business section at MS). That sounds like a formidable team to us and while they will no doubt have big shoes to fill we’re confident that they have every chance of taking the Xbox brand even further.

Shane Kim oversaw the launch of the original Xbox as well as the 360 and was present for the start of huge gaming brands like the Halo, Forza and Gears series.
