EA Resurrecting SSX?

If people demand it, then they will do it apparently.

The SSX franchise was ridiculously popular and it was a bit of a shock when EA killed it off  when they decided that the EA Sports Big brand had ran its course, but if you’ve been missing a bit of mountain action then good news may be on the horizon. Alain Tascan from EA Montreal was asked “Looking at some of your other franchises, are we going to see another SSX?” to which he replied “Ah, SSX. We have a big catalogue and we were talking about what people like. I think this is something we will look at in the future to see if it makes sense to revive the franchise.”

Then, when asked “Well, SSX was a very popular franchise and has a lot of fans – at the moment do you think there’s sense in bringing it back?” He went on to say “It’s a little bit early to talk about it, but I feel… I know internally it is a franchise that people love because it was successful and good, and it reminds me of when we were young, and I feel if the market is there and is ready for a new one then we’ll consider it.”

So it appears that if people demand it then there is every chance of the franchise making a comeback, In the comments below let us know what franchises you’d like to see being given the next gen treatment, my votes on Road Rash.

    It would need to be based upon SSX Tricky as that was by far the best of the bunch. Just wonder though whether the market has moved on this type of game would feel (not necessarily look) dated.

      I loved SSX 3 and Tricky and played them right up until my 60gig YLOD – I miss them loads.

      It was a real fun racer with stunts, and was infinately more playable than last year’s Shaun White Snowboarding which had really flawed handling and quite bad texture ‘pop-in’ graphics

      I’d buy it on day 1, even if it was just a HD remake like the God Of War one’s (which I’ll import if there’s going to be an EU delay)

        This. HD ports of SSX Trick and SSX 3 would be pre-ordered – maybe even twice just to show my appreciation. I take it there hasn’t been any word on how long it’ll be until the EU version of the GoW remakes?

        I played Tricky and SSX3 to death too and would love to see them bring it back. I would also want them to bring back EA BIG because FIFA Street was better when it was BIG

        Although when I tried Tricky, 3 and World Tour recently in my 60GB and it crashed for all of them. Maybe the discs just need cleaned…

      Definetly agree. I picked up for like a tenner and expected it to suck but SSX Tricky provided me an amazingly large amount of gaming time and I enjoyed every minute.
      A great game indeed. :)

    HELL YEAH!! i demand it, i loved them all especially the 3rd one, trying to find one in shops is proving quite difficiult

    but yeah i would love to see a new one, oh and it would have to have the characters from the last ones, don’t go changing them EA

    I would love some more SSX, but I agree, the series went downhill (ahem) after Tricky. The same as with Burnout in my opinion, the game lost the feel of immediacy and spontaneous gaming with the more open-world approach. Not good…
    Hoping they bring em both back old skool!

    I don’t really understand why they killed it off to begin with… I know SSX 3 wasn’t as good as Tricky, but I thought it still sold fairly well?

    Yeah, SSX was a great game for split screen races, couldn’t understand why there was no PS3 version. Umm, Jack and Daxter would be good too! And some new Oddworld games please. Umm, that’s it for now.

    Even my wife loved SSX Tricky, it would be fantastic to have SSX franchise relaunched,or give us Tricky like there doing GOW or just bung it on PSN ( obviously not as easy as just bung it on) How cool would that be SSX Tricky with trophies!

    Hope they do it….I had manynights of pass the pad brilliance with my mates with the last ones. Would be great if they could emulate that gameplay with next gen graphics on top of it.

    This would be awesome. I loved ssx tricky and have ssx on tour on psp (although i haven’t played it much) A new ssx game would be a definite buy for me.

      some great times on the old PS1 with that game!

      SSX Tricky is a brilliant game. I can remember when we paid around £40 for it from Woolies :D
