Sega Shut Down San Fran Studio

Sega of America are shutting down their San Francisco based development studio. Confirming yesterday’s rumour to IndustryGamers, the press statement reads as follows:

“Sega of America is sad to announce the closure of Sega Studios San Francisco. It is an immensely talented studio and we wish all the best to all of the staff in all their future endeavors.  Moving forward, Sega will continue to pursue external development opportunities all over the world and will continue to grow the renowned Sega brand.”

Iron Man (the first one) has the ignoble honour of being the only demo I have ever downloaded, played once and immediately erased from my hard-drive. I think I then cleaned my PS3 in fear of infection. The second Iron Man 2 title  - a game we are promised will not suck as much as the first one (something we reckon is physically impossible so they’re probably right) – is unaffected by the studio’s closure.

As much as we disliked Sega Studios San Francisco’s first Iron Man game, we do wish all those affected well going forward. You are all infinitely more talented than I am. Probably.
