We’re currently just wrapping up the Xbox 360 version of Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption and don’t have access to the PlayStation 3 version to confirm or deny this, but reports are emerging this morning that the PS3 version of the Wild West third person adventure is “sub-HD”.

Users on the Beyond3D forum (picked up by CVG) claim the PS3 version is “640p”, compared to the very definitely HD Xbox 360 version, which runs at 720p and looks (to my eyes, at least) gorgeous.  The Xbox 360 version also has 2x anti-aliasing, to help smooth out the visuals a little.

Quaz51, the now infamous pixel-counter, claims RDR is running at the same (relatively low) resolution as the PS3 version of Grand Theft Auto 4: 640×1152.  We’re awaiting a response from Rockstar regarding these claims today, and we’ll update you as soon as we hear anything about them.

In the meantime, we’ll have the definitive review of Red Dead Redemption up very soon indeed.
