We all know Rockstar San Diego created a bit of a masterpiece with Red Dead Redemption, and we all knew it was a bit of a looker, but perhaps not everyone realised it was quite so beautiful.
Digital Foundry, one of the best places on the internet for technical articles and video captures has put together a fantastic time lapse for the year’s best selling game. I could go writing a bit more of an introduction, but we all know you’re only here for the main event, so check it out below.
One thing I will say though and this is a bit of Pro Tip, on the original Digital Foundry post is a link to the master vid, so you can watch it in all its 720p 60fps glory and this is well worth doing, although I don’t know if there’s any restrictions on multiupload so you may need to be quick.

That is EPIC!
Shows how much detail went into the game.

That’s one the most hauntingly beautiful things i’ve seen from a videogame or otherwise. Rockstar have absolutely nailed the representation of the wild west.
A truly stunning story and game in general, and as a whole, an experience I won’t soon forget.
Superb work Digital Foundry.

Yea I think they got the atmosfer down well, but the game is dragging on. Bit too long for me. Ill finish it, but I’m just forcing it to the end now

Downloading the 242MB file to check out. Can’t wait as I recently finished the game and caught myself thinking about the day-night cycles and if they were built accurately; admittedly with a quicker time-line.

Woah. thats stunning, tbh I’ve played this game so much that I’ve pretty much started taking the day/ night cycle for granted but this just goes to show how unbelievably detailed it is.
brilliant video

Ah, that was wonderful. Thanks, cc. Each scene is just stunning to watch as the shadows dance across the ground and stretch across the landscape like waking cats. For me, the best parts were when they climb up the walls of the building. Also, those skies are quite, quite superb.
