Suicide Squad Game In Development

Speaking on a panel at Comic-con last week, DC Comics’ Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns has confirmed that a Suicide Squad game is in the works. A potential launch window to coincide with an also announced movie of the same name was hinted at.

For the uninitiated, Suicide Squad is violent-as-they-come DC comic featuring super-villains working for the government on impossible (there’s the suicide part) missions as payment for immunity for their numerous crimes. To keep the rag-tag group in check, each member is fitted with explosive bracelets that can detonate either by remote control or if a member strays too far from the field leader. A bit like Battle Royale but with fewer Japanese school-girls getting shot with crossbows.

Much like the X-Men, the roster rotates, with current members listed as Bronze Tiger (who usually leads), Multiplex, Plastique, Captain Boomerang, Count Vertigo, General Wade Eiling, Marauder, Blackguard, Twister, White Dragon and Windfall. Comic fans, please do feel free to elucidate us about these super people in the comments below.

Johns stressed that the game promises to retain the hyperviolent quality of the books. No platforms have been announced at this time though we’re thinking the Wii is probably out.

  1. I can see the tabloids now: Suicide Game provokes outrage!

    • Oh…. I can tell ill-informed idiots will take this the wrong way

      • Yep. Still, I always find it entertaining when they’re made to grovel for forgiveness.
        When they’re not however…

    • Hopefully not as it’s based on an existing property. Then again I don’t expect them to do a lot of digging.

  2. Mmmmm hyperviolent. This should be enough to tip me into that killing spree!
