Rockstar To Ban Red Dead Cheaters From Tomorrow

"1,000,000 points my leathery ass."

Speaking of hammers, Rockstar have sent us an email outlining their plans to punish any doggone curs running amok in Red Dead Redemption.

Focusing on hacked saved games, starting August 24th, cheating Red Dead players will be “swiftly” and “indefinitely” banished from the West. Amnesty for these low-down horse thieves is available, however, with Rockstar decreeing that any PSN and XBL users who have availed of this bastardly practice can “restore their honour” and obtain “redemption” by deleting the dastardly hacked game saves from their systems or incur the unmerciful wrath of the law. Scared you might be affected? Check out the fine print on the Wanted poster below to see if you’re about to get lassoed, destined to wake up in a cell with no teeth.

* This will not apply to those people who simply took advantage of temporarily exploits to rapidly grind up XP a few weeks ago. We are able to tell who actually hacked their save to have impossible scores.

* Banned hackers will also be removed from the leaderboards.

* To be spared, any hacked saves that you have will need to be deleted – single player as well as multiplayer. You should be aware that everything is wiped when deleting saves. These are the only exceptions:

– Players would keep any Achievements/Trophies they had already earned.
– All preorder items tied to their accounts would be unlocked for them upon signing in and creating a new save while connected to Xbox LIVE or PlayStation Network
– Any cheats earned through Social Club would be unlocked for them upon signing in and creating a new save while connected to Xbox LIVE or PlayStation Network

* After deleting your hacked game save(s), you will then need to go online with Red Dead Redemption (prior to August 24th) for it to register that you’re now playing clean. For single-player saves, you will need to re-play the game while connected until you gain access to the safehouse at MacFarlane’s ranch. For multiplayer saves, you will need to play one full game online or do one Gang Hideout.

  1. Well done rockstar taking a stand

  2. Im suprised that they finally decided to stop the exploits because i remember hacking the rockstar social club to get the Audi R8 in Midnight Club
    Fun Times :)

  3. I really am going to have to start playing this game online. I totally lost interest in it after getting disillusioned with the single player.

    • Yeah ditto mate, i got bored quite quickly of the single playr, and never bothered to venture online < what a div!

I'll fire it up later methinks

  4. yes no cheaters now i might have a chance instead of getting killed in 1 hit

  5. Maybe Infinity Ward should take a look at this…..

    • Take a look and laugh at them cuz they are bothered about there consumers lool

    • Agreed, Ive just given up looking at the full leaderboards. I limit the leaderboards to just my friends. Im still rubbish though but at least its an honest rubbish LOL!!

    • I doubt they will.

    • I just said the same thing on my clan website and was about to say it here too but you beat me to it. Rockstar has now proven that it can be done. Maybe I’m being naive but it is really so much to ask that IW (and no doubt Treyarch soon enough) crack down hard on glitchers and leaderboard cheats? The top 5000 (at least) in MW are a joke and a middle finger to legit players.

  6. Nice one Rockstar, I only wish they would do it for the people on LBP who somehow manage to get millions of points! =/

  7. I didn’t even knew that RDR had hacked saves… Well done R*.

  8. Ive barely touched the online on this, the single player is so good! At least Rockstar are doing something about this!

  9. More developers need to do this, we’re all looking at you Activision!

    • Which game that activision developed are you referring to?

      • MW2, all the prestige scammers that are still in the leader-boards and the nuke boosting game ruin-ers!

  10. But mw2 isn’t developed by activision, it’s developed by infinity ward. Activision only published it, bit of a difference right there.
