Borderlands Gets GOTY Edition

Borderlands is set to receive a ‘Game of the Year’ edition – coming this October.  A lot of people simply wait for GOTY editions these days, as they generally offer fantastic value when compared to buying all the DLC separately.

This GOTY edition will come with the four DLC expansions, three of which have been available to buy for a while now.  These are;

  • The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned
  • Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot
  • The Secret Armory of General Knoxx
  • Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution

Also included is a map of the Borderlands territories – handy for those with zero sense of direction.  No EU prices have been confirmed.

  1. I bought borderlands months ago, as did my brother, so we could play through it together. We be one session on it and haven’t touched it since. Not sure why, it’s the sort of game we’d both love, just always end up playing something else instead. I’m interested to know which magazine or website or whatever has given it the game of the year award.

    • I can relate, I thought it was really hard getting into at first, as the starting weaponry is shit and ammo is sparse. And I did tire of fighting skags after the 1800th of them.
I pushed through though, and enjoyed the rest immensely.

  2. Saw this earlier, and will be getting this when it comes out. One of the games that I didn’t get chance to get. GOTY edition is a huge motivation.

  3. I’d strongly recommend for anyone who doesn’t have this already – the DLC is a lot of fun, as is the game itself. Especially co-op play :)

  4. I’m defo gonna start waiting for more GOTY editions. Will sell my old copy and prob get this now instead.

  5. i might have to finally get the game.

  6. Never got used to R2 as the fire button instead of the correct way. Anyone know if one can customize the control scheme?

    • Surely you just adapt? Plenty of games have those controls, including most 3rd person shooters – red dead, Gta, i think uncharted as well. You can’t expect all games to have the controls you like, sometimes you’ve just got to get used to it.

    • the driving controls were much more confusing imo. you get used to them, but it’s always weird going back to it after a while.

    • That’s interesting your say the ‘correct way’ as personally I prefer R2 as shoot and customise my games to this whenever possible. It is called a ‘trigger button’ afterall. Mind I do have the ‘Real Trigger’ clip-on buttons attached, so I suppose if you’re using the default buttons it might not be as good…

      • I prefer a slightly more digital click to my trigger, R1 gives definite feedback.

  7. Yep, will probably buy it, finally.

  8. Doesnt a game need to win a Game of the Year award to release a GOTY version?

Im trying to hit lvl 50 without DLC so i can get the Plat. On 43 now >.<

    • It won the MugsyBalone Game of The Year 2009. There you go :)

  9. So, you need to make an RPG-shooter to get a GOTY version from now on? ;)

  10. I never got around to picking up the standard edition for whatever reason, so I’ll look to pick the GOTY edition up when it’s released.
