Nissan Leaf Has ‘Trophy Support’

I know very little about cars as I live in London where we have half decent public transport. If I were to buy a vehicle the two most important factors would be:

  1. Does it have a really, really good stereo with enough bass to simulate a small earthquake?
  2. Is it a Dodge Ram SRT-10 (a massive truck which can carry a Range Rover on the payload and has the engine of the Dodge Viper muscle car)?

If the answer is yes to both these questions then that’s the vehicle for me. However those of you who are trophy whores or play games to achieve every possible achievement may like to take a look at the new European Car Of The Year 2011, the Nissan Leaf.

The new electric car has some rather nifty features – It can travel 100 miles on a single charge, you can have a solar panel on the rear spoiler to generate free power and it comes with trophies. No it’s not April 1st, it really does.

The Leaf features the CARWINGS telematics system which records the performance of the vehicle, tracks your driving efficiency and compares your results with other Leaf drivers. Rankings are given in Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum, complete with nice trophy icons and rather familiar on screen graphics.

  1. I cycled past a Dodge Ram once.. I felt small :/

    • Hubby has promised me one becasue he’s splashing out on an Audi R8. I just need to pass that driving test bollocks.

      • if he’s splashing out on an r8 then you should request something better than a dodge ram!….;)

      • I’d actually have a RAM over an R8. It’s a beast. 2.5 tons and still does 0-60 in 4.9 seconds!

  2. Platinum trophy if you ..er.. finish the car off?

  3. Is there a trophy for destroying your car?

  4. Please let there be retroactive support for my Micra.

    • *donates paper cup* There we go, Jim. A trophy for you.

  5. That is genius……

“Sir, can I ask why you were driving at 100mph?”
    “For a trophy officer”

  7. sounds like a nice feature to have in a car but if the car drives like crap or looks like it, then no amount of features will save it

  8. Just need to get money to pay for Uni AND my driving tests. Then trophies for me :D

  9. Platinum – drive car for 20 years.

    • nissans last that long? o.O

      • It would certainly be worthy of a platinum if it did!

      • One of the few manufacturer that do. I have a few mates who are Datsun collectors and they have cars well over 20 years old, running like new, with very little ongoing maintenance

  10. Theres always a “Drive 1,000,000 miles” trophy >:|
