‘The UnderGarden’ Coming To PSN

Up until now the only way to play Vitamin G Studios’ surreal ‘The UnderGarden’ was to buy an Xbox 360.  This is all set to change as it has been confirmed that the game is heading to PSN.  Rather confusingly it has been tagged for a ‘Winter 2011’ release, which I assumed meant end of the year, however Vitamin G Studios has clarified that it means some time in the next couple of months.

So what is The UnderGarden?  Well:

“The UnderGarden is about exploration. It’s part game and part experience, with a little bit of puzzle solving mixed in. The game takes place across different worlds of windy tunnels, dark places filled with fog, and areas where electricity turns large rock gears endlessly.

As the player, you float through these dark caverns, and fill them with colour and music. You’ll need to collect pollen to grow beautiful flowers and exotic plants. Some of these plants bear fruit, used to manipulate doors, levers, gears, and other contraptions you find along the way.

There are also special items to collect, and new flora and fruit to discover, and as they bloom the lighting and animations make the entire environment spring to life. Music also plays a huge part in the game, and almost everything you touch makes different musical tones. As you fill the world with music, you’ll run into the musicians, who play different instruments and will keep you company on your journey.”

The game also supports drop-in/drop-out co-op play, and is described as a polar opposite to some of the fast paced, tension filled titles on sale today.

  2. Reason to own an XBOX360 just fell by 1 point….

    • It’s already out for XBOX m8, or am i missing something here hehe!

  3. Looks brilliant, hope they clear up the ambiguity as to when it’s actually coming out.

  4. Coolio…

  5. Heh… “undergarden”. Sounds rude. Anyway… back on topic, that looks like a great game, like a hybrid of Flower and PixelJunk Shooter (minus the shooting, obviously). Definitely something I’d be interested in.

    • It does sound a lot like flower & the cavern exploration did make me think of PJ Shooter as well – I am also getting a kind of ‘rez’ vibe from the fact that the music changes stuff too though (again, with less shooting though!).
      Could be good.

  6. Can’t see the video as I’m at work.

Will it support Move Control does anyone know?

  7. Reminds me of a trip i had with a few friends back in ’92 ;/

  8. I remember seeing a trailer for this when it came out on 360, it looks nice. Pretty and nice.

  9. I hadn’t been aware of this title until now. I like the look of the trailer and like others have said it looks a bit like a cross between both Flower and PixelJunk Shooter, both games that I enjoyed. I’ll definitely be keeping a close eye on this one.

  10. that looks pretty colorful!
