If you keep up with games industry you’re already probably aware of some of the strange things publishers have done to move games. While this isn’t the most over-the-top stunt we’ve seen yet, it certainly ranks up the among the most unique approaches I’ve ever witnessed. It seems rather than trying to hide how gruesome and violent Dead Space 2 is, EA is bragging about how much your mother will hate it.
I have no idea where this advert will be shown or if it’s just a web-based tactic, but it’s definitely something you don’t see every day. Before everyone calls out how fake this is, be sure to notice the text at the bottom of the video that says, “Actual Focus Group, Not Actors.”
The good news is, Dead Space 2 is only a week or so away, and if you’re over 18 this likely won’t affect you in the slightest. The bad news is, if you’re under 18 and were hoping to convince you’re mother that this is a family friendly title that contains the same amount of violence as a Barbie Adventures game, you’ve already failed.

Definitely will try and pick this up soon after release.
I have to say though that it will have to go some way in the chills department to beat Amnesia that I’m currently playing; a genuinly terrifying experience that is almost too difficult to play!

It’s definitely worth checking out the demo, but it is very difficult to play once it gets scary……and I’m not that far in!

The Dead Space franchise is a third person survival horror set in space. Think Resident Evil meets Aliens, with a disturbing focus on dismemberment!

I don’t know about anyone else here, but I thought it was just stupid. It just helps re-enforce the errornous stereotype of videogames.

If it’s just for the web the ad is spot on: we all know about the stereotypes, let’s us laugh about them :)

I agree if the media (i.e. the daily mail) got hold of this they’d have a field day. I bet panorama wish this was released before they aired their programme on video games!

I also lol’d. My other half hates dead space.
Far too many good games out so soon this year. Even if I had the money, I certainly don’t have the time! GT5 takes up nearly all my gaming time at the mo!
