L.A. Noire Coming To PC

Rockstar have today announced that their previously console-exclusive investigation title L.A. Noire will be arriving on PC later this year.

The PC version is in development at Rockstar Leeds – the label’s porting specialists, and developers of the handheld GTAs. L.A. Noire “will run on a wide range of PCs and feature customization, including keyboard remapping and gamepad functionality to both optimize and customize the performance and user experience,” says the press release. “Along with increased fidelity and improved graphical enhancements, the PC version will feature 3D support for an even greater sense of interaction and immersion within a painstakingly detailed 1940s Los Angeles.”

L.A. Noire will be released for PC this autumn, at both physical and digital retailers. We gave the console version 7/10 in our review.

  1. Nice.
The more people who can play it the better, in my opinion.

    • Thats a good way to put it, but wasn’t this a ps3 exclusive at one point?

      • It was, but I don’t think the loss of exclusivity affected the game too much.
People can say that they took content out, but as the major criticism is repetitiveness (what exactly did people expect from a procedural game?) that might actually have happened anyway.
The graphics didn’t appear to suffer, and I thought the gameplay and the game overall to be excellent.

      • was it really?! i thought it was just exclusive DLC. I didn’t think the game was repetitive at all(not even the homicide desk!) so i would have enjoyed many more cases :)

      • I think R* persuaded sony to let it go multiplat and they would develop another different exclusive – The Agent? i think it’s called.

      • hasnt there been talked that is has been cancelled though? :/

      • Yeah, I didn’t think the game was repetitive either, but that was what all the reviewers were pointing at.
I would have liked more, but I think the story did end up in a quite nice arc.
I hope more and more DLC comes out, even if the Rockstar pass stops covering it and I have to pay for more, I would.

      • haha same here, they should just keep making more and more cases, i would buy them without any doubt, i love the game so much lol

      • Rockstar confirmed a month ago Agent is still in development.

      • ffs

        SOE = The Agency (dead)
        Rockstar = Agent (alive)

  2. I thought the game was good, but got boring. The lack of sandboxing annoyed me too, especially the fact that each minor crime only comes up once, and you cant free roam at the end of the game. Not saying it was bad though! good game, just not the best for me. Keyboard customisation, pad use and 3D all sound good though.

    • If you go into cases and pick Streets of LA, can’t you freeroam?
      I haven’t done that yet, but I assume that’s what it means…

  3. 3D, so you can almost slap annoying Phelps, Great

    • If only that were Vanessa Phelps – not in a dirty way. ….think I’m gonna be sick.

  4. Great game, i have loved every second of it :) with better graphics and 3D this is gona be awesome for PC gamers

    • That’s my opinion too.
Makes me wish I didn’t have such a crappy laptop.

      • you think your laptop is bad, you havnt seen mine, you put a simple dvd in it and it sounds like a helicopter has crashed into my face and that the laptop has been hit with a shovel. My computer is even worse…. this is why i am not a pc gamer

  5. I only played the game at a friend’s house, but I HATED the facial animation. Looked just like Robert Zemeckis’s zombies. I prefer them to be hand animated, thank you very much.

    • then real life is not up your street.

      • If all of real life is as beautiful as the best CG hand animted art, then I’m not sure what world I’m in. :)
Anyway, real life has decent shaders, which, in my opinion, LA Noire does not.
BTW, forgot to mention, but other than the graphics, the gameplay was very good when I played it. Loved every second of it. It’s just a shame that there are so many games coming out…

      • there is no game out that can beat that facial animation.

      • skibadee, you’re being a bit blunt here. DRCD1 is just expressing his opinion here, and what’s more is that it’s completely justifiable, to some the facial features of LA Noire may well fall into what’s known as the “Uncanny Valley”.

        Here’s a reference link explaining: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uncanny_valley

  6. Reasonable game at best. Once you have gotten use to the face animation, it gets a little rinse and repeat. Ending is completely odd? Other than that, worth a run through……

  7. Yeh make as much money as you can from the consoles before the PC version gets pirated from Torrent sites.

    • must be nice being so positive :)
