Capcom Starting UK Fight Clubs

We know, there are rules to talking about Fight Club but we’ve never been one for rules. Neither, it seems, are Capcom who couldn’t wait to tell us about their new initiative to get UK gamers out of their living rooms, bedrooms and whatever other rooms they play games in and into conference venues and halls with hundreds of other gamers.

Of course, Capcom are the undisputed champions of the fighting genre at present so it’s only right that this is the area they’re focussing on. The events will be entirely free and feature food, DJs and, of course, Capcom’s current and future fighting titles.

It all sounds very entertaining and the guys from Capcom will be great hosts, we’re sure.

As an added bonus, to demonstrate how amusing Capcom are, here’s an actual quoted bullet list from the Press Release that announced this initiative:

  • Free games
  • Free food
  • Free drink
  • Free Willy*

*No actual Free Willy

The tour kicks off in London on the 20th August with an event featuring Yoshinori Ono (Street Fighter Producer) but continues around the mainland UK with further venues promised. Even without any free Willy, it’s sure to be a great tour.

  1. Fight Clubs are awesome. There was one in Chicago last year. Had a great time.

  2. Oh god, that made me laugh. I’m not gonna go now i know there’s no free willy. False advertising i say.

    • We always avoid directly quoting press releases but Capcom’s are quite regularly really funny.

      • Mmm, press releases are usually very predictable and ‘corporatey’, so it’s nice to see they aren’t taking it that seriously, so to speak…

  3. Nice. I tried SSFIV: 3D Edition and traded it in soon after, but it’s at least nice to see some events on happen on this rock.

  4. I should go, maybe someone can teach me to play Street Fighter IV. I can’t even get through arcade mode on the easiest setting!!

  5. Me and my two brothers could own this….

  6. Still have to pay for the willy!
