GAME Denies Steam-Related Allegations

Earlier today we posted a story about the mysterious absence of certain games from Steam’s UK store. We reported that allegations had been made on a forum that the publishers of certain titles were being pressured by GAME Group PLC to keep their games back from Steam in the UK for a period of time.

We’ve just heard back from Neil Ashurst, head of PR for GAME and he has categorically denied the group’s involvement in any missing titles from the UK’s Steam store.

We can categorically state that these rumours do not relate to GAME Group or any of its employees. We have had no such conversations with any publisher

Neil also told us that they had checked with several publishers to ensure that there had never been any inference of this allegation from any of their staff.

So it’s not GAME’s fault that THQ games are missing and Brink was delayed. THQ PR told us earlier that they don’t know why Steam isn’t listing Space Marine and Bethesda was aware of Brink’s temporary absence but offered no reason for it.

It now seems most likely that this is down to a publisher’s own distribution plan or some problem with Steam’s side of the deal.

  1. Are Zenimax/Bethesda also aware that we cannot pre-order Skyrim on Steam in the UK either?

  2. No need for that, thanks [AG]

  3. So if it’s not Game, then that begs the question who/what is stopping these games from going onto steam at launch?
