Skyrim DLC Timed 360 Exclusive

Uh oh, it seems like Microsoft is up to old tricks again. The Xbox builders have just gotten in touch to let us know that November’s huge Bethesda release of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will be bringing its DLC content to Xbox Live for a 30 day exclusivity period.

So, that sounds like bad luck for PS3 and PC fans of the fantasy action RPG series, although some might see it as a positive that 360 players will be first to encounter any potential difficulties with the content.

  1. if they think that’ll make me buy the xbox version, they can think again.

  2. Still fairly annoying, timed DLC exclusivity isn’t good whether it’s on PS3 or Xbox360. Not a fan of it…. ah well, 30 days isn’t too long though :)

    • Not great, but not long when compared to gtaIV dlc, around 12 months exclusive.

  3. Seriously though guys, i recently brought a 360 alongside my PS3, and i don’t know what console to get it on. Will this make it better for 360? Or will the graphics be better for PS3? And is it true the PS3 one is getting mods?

    • if it’s got the same quick select controls that oblivion had then the ps3 dpad will be much better for the game than the 360 one is.
i’ve played oblivion on both so i know.

and the ps3 version might have a mandatory install.
but i expect they’ll be almost identical other than that.

      • Is Skyrim running on idTech 5 a la Rage? If it is then the install sizes could be a little eye-watering…

    • The last few Bethesda games (Oblivion and FO3/NV) have been buggy as hell on the PS3 on release day (see the ‘what we played’ article from today if you don’t believe me)
As much as I love my PS3 and the Dualshock controller, getting this one on the 360 is a complete no-brainer imo

      • this is a new engine so would wait till the bugs are seen first.

  4. I’m not entirely sure but I think, I think there will be enough standard content to keep me busy for a wee while ;)

  5. Considering how many DLC packs Skyrim is likely to receive and the cost involved – you’re better off waiting for a GOTY edition to appear – this is Bethesda after all… and it’s not like Skyrim’s gonna be launching at a time of year when there’s not much else to be spending my hard earned on.

    • Wait???? Day 1!!!!

It’s usually easier to buy it, enjoy it, and trade in for the GOTY edition if the DlC does end up being expensive.

  6. Nah, sounds like bad luck for Skyrim profits. I’ll be passing on this one, I don’t play the timed DLC game, for any platform.

  7. I’m just happy to know dlc will be waiting for me so soon. (ps3 user.)

  8. What for? The fallout packs seemed so uninteresting to me, so I’d rather have a huge pack like erm.. an Expansion.

I don’t see how they could add dlc to a game with loads of content already >_>

  9. Well at least this means the dlc should be coming to ps3. They never even bothered to release any for oblivion apart from in the US. Honestly though I was thinking about waiting and buying this after I’m through with AC, U3, and whatever fps I decide to get. There’s alot less need to buy a game on day 1 when there’s no multiplayer to keep up with, or spoilers to be had. All this has done is made that decision for me

  10. Bullshit! I can’t believe this still happens! Yeah it’s business, bla bla bla, but why does MS continue to pour money into these timed DLC’s rather than put it into you know…EXCLUSIVES??!!

I’ll still be getting it for PS3. See MS, I have both consoles, and this kind of crap still does not persuade me in getting it for XBOX.
