During yesterday’s Nintendo TGS presser it was revealed that Tecmo KOEI’s popular hack and slash series will be making its 3DS debut in 2012 with Dynasty Warriors Vs. Developed by Omega Force, the game is said to be focused on competitive multiplayer, though whether or not this will support both online and local play has yet to be verified.
Full-on player vs. player skirmishes is something entirely new to the franchise (bar the Dynasty Warriors MMO) and with the games being focused on epic 1 vs. 10,000 battles, it’s easy to pick out the impracticality. According to initial reports, opposing players each select three of the game’s unique officers and then set out to capture their opponent’s bases whilst defending their own.
Players will be able to switch between their three chosen generals at ease, using simple portrait tabs on the 3DS touchscreen, one of the few redeeming features of Samurai Warriors: Chronicles which launched for the system earlier this year. It also appears as if Vs. will adopt the current DW7 roster of characters, though whether Xtreme Legends characters Pang De, Guo Jia, and Wang Yi will be available hasn’t been confirmed.
