LittleBigPlanet Karting Revealed

United Front Games (ModNation Racers) have been confirmed as the studio behind upcoming LittleBigPlanet Karting. The game has been rumoured for a few months now, but this is the first time it’s been seen outside of a select few.

“We’ve all seen that UFG has a wealth of racing experience and they’re also intimately familiar with LBP’s cornerstones of PLAY, CREATE, SHARE” said Media Molecule today. “With LBP’s powerful and diverse toolset in their capable hands, LittleBigPlanet Karting is sure to be an adventure that both LBP fans and kart racing fans alike will enjoy!”

“Our goal with LBP Karting has been fairly simple,” said the developers, “provide a fast-paced experience that captures the best of classic Karting gameplay, married with the unbridled creativity of LBP. This new adventure will be accessible to players of all ages and have all of the variety necessary to satisfy both the hardcore and more casual players.”

The game is set in an “entirely 3D world”, and will feature all the usual LBP elements like the toolbox. “Along with fan favorite racing and battle modes,” says the blog, “players will be able to modify the rules of the game itself to create completely new modes and challenges. All of this is wrapped up in a community experience that should have LBP fans feeling right at home.”

The game is locked for a 2012 release.

  1. Yeah, aside from sackboy & a few asthetic changes here & there, i personally don’t see how this is so different from MNR really.

Either way, they need to get the load times acceptable – I picked up MNR after the loadtime reducing patch & it was still awful.

  2. I just didn’t enjoy ModNation Racers all that much and this is basically a sequel which means for me that I’ll be waiting for a few months after release and the dust has settled before I consider a purchase

  3. MNR RIP :/ Saying that though this does looks like balls of fun :D

  4. Really liking the use of the LBP2 power-ups…perhaps this could be the game’s forte?

  5. Bet it’s ace…..

  6. It looks good but as several others have said its basically going to be MNR 2 which is by no means a bad thing but putting it under LBP basically spells the end for MNR on the home console.

  7. This is not what i was expecting at all.
i was thinking just MNR with LBP visuals but this is little big planet on wheels.

i cant wait to see how deep creation actually is and what other people create because im sure it will be absurd and wonderful.
(also its a shame this wont come to the Vita because that along side the normal 2.5D LBP would be amazing)

  8. Don’t know what to think here. Looks great but I guess this means no more Modnation Racers?

  9. Looks cool:P LOVE LBP’s world;)

  10. Looks great, can’t wait for ths one.
